12.21.00-  Microsoft and Their Monopoly

    Well I thought that this would be a good topic to start off my brand spanking new web page. For my first observation I would like to state that Microsoft is a monopoly. You might be saying, "So?".  Well, the reason is this: Microsoft kills off all of the other operating systems. Then the software companies only make their software compatible with the Windows OS. So now, everyone is like, "Well, everyone else has Windows. I guess I gotta have it." Now this is why monopolies are bad. Ya see, Microsoft makes trash. We all know this. But Microsoft does nothing about this. In fact, I think that Microsoft puts bugs into their OS just so they can lower the price. Windows ME was modeled from Windows 2000. Yet Windows 2000 is much more stable than Windows ME. Sure they put in that crash protection software, but does it work? I do not own Windows ME. In fact, I have a cheap piece of trash computer. But that is besides the point. Is there anything we can do about this monopoly? Sadly, no. Not even our own government can solve this problem.

    12.21.00- Napster and Pirated Software

    Is downloading copyrighted music or software illegal? Personally I think not. And this is why: If you are not going to buy the software in the first place maybe because it is too expensive (i.e. 3D Studio MAX) then you are not costing the company any money. Some idiot used this for an example: "Downloading music from the internet is just like walking into a store, taking a CD, and walking out without paying for it." This is wrong. If you are stealing the CD you are costing the company the money to make the CD. But when it is in the digital form, it does not cost anything to make another copy. Now of course you were going to buy the CD and then decide, "Hey, I can just download those songs for free." then you are stealing them.
