Before I had these speakers, I had some cheap speakers that I stole from my dad. Just 2 speakers. Pretty sad huh? So I decided that my next upgrade would be new speakers. I wanted surround sound, so that is why I got these. When I first got them, I only had the original integrated sound that came with my motherboard. Only later did I get my Audigy to experience their power. The first plus is normal speakers have the bulky power plug, but this is just a regular 2 prong one, which really saves space on the power strip. They way the speakers hook up is the main speaker (front right) has a power thingy that plugs into the subwoofer, then it has 2 plugs that plug into the soundcard. One plug is for the front speakers, and the other one is to the rear. If you only have a stereo sound card, you can still just hook the front speakers up to it. The front left, rear right, rear left speakers all hook up to the back of the subwoofer via their RCA-style cables. The speakers have a nice feature for you stereo soundcard folks called M3D. If you have all 4 speakers hooked up, you can turn it on, and it will feed the sound to the rear speakers also. The downside, the sound coming out of the rear speakers when it is turned on is kinda warbley. Now that I have my Audigy, I never turn it on anymore. When I first turned on the speakers, I saw some nice, cool thing that Logitech put on their speakers that added to the coolness of them: a blue power LED. Nice transition from the normal green/red LED. The downside of the LED is it is very bright and I have to put something in front of it in order for me to go to sleep. The subwoofer is different than what I was accustomed to. The usual subs blow air out the back/bottom. But this don't blow air out anywhere. It still sounds very good and just like those other ones. Makes a nice rumble sound. Next I got my Audigy. They served their purpose very well. They sound excellent and the subwoofer is nice too.
