Back
in the good old days of 386's, there was a wonderful game out there named
P-51. A flight simulator that took place in WWII. All you had to worry
about is if you were too close to the ground, where the bad planes were,
and how much ammo you had. Other than that you were set. Now a days, you
gotta worry about as much stuff as a real plane. But maybe some people
want a real experience. Well that's just dandy. But what about the folks
that just wanna have some fun and blow stuff up and have a descent crash
scene? In Microsoft's Flight Simulator 2000, the only thing that happens
when you crash is the plane sticking out of the side of a building or
sticking out of the water. Back in P-51 days, there was a mess and a bunch
of smoke. Now that is pretty bad when a game like that is better than the
state of the art computer game like MSFS2000.
Now there are some cool games out there like Jane's USAF. Sure it may have some fancy weapons, but would it be fun like P-51? Maybe. I guess it would depend on the person. Maybe if you were a plane enthusiast. But as for me I like just blowing stuff up. Not worrying about fuel, and stalling, and all of that junk. And some games won't let you fly our of a certain boundary. I mean, what's the deal? Until some one makes a FUN flight sim, I won't be satisfied. In P-51, you could fly around Paris and blow up houses and trains with rockets and bombs and stuff. Now when you do something like that, your supervisor comes over the radio and says something like, "Oh you shouldn't have done that! You need to come back to base!" Then the mission starts over. (This does not necessarily refer to Jane's USAF) What the Flight Simulator needs is this: A good crash scene, less technical stuff, lots of stuff to blow up, and stuff like that. What we need is a sequel to P-51! With good graphics and good gameplay and lots of stuff to blow up. That would get people interested in it again. Then it would raise the standard and all of the other game companies would say, "Oh no! Now we can't make trash anymore! Lets go to another genre and ruin it!" It would be like how Myst killed the adventure genre. Did ya hear about that? Myst looked too pretty and then when people looked at other adventure games they all said, "Hey! This is ugly! Myst looks much better!" |
